Laurie is a New York State licensed, board certified Acupuncturist and Registered Nurse with more than 25 years of professional healthcare experience. She has worked in diverse settings including the operating room, medical floors, and Hospice home care. Her background includes volunteering with a Healing the Children traveling surgical team for facial reconstructive surgery.
After years of viewing medicine from a conventional perspective, Laurie’s life was fundamentally changed following a dramatic personal experience with acupuncture. It opened her eyes to the existence of treatment methods other than drugs or surgery. Frustrated by the limitations of the predominant medical model, she was inspired to return to school and become a Licensed Acupuncturist.
Laurie graduated with a Masters degree from Tri-State College of Acupuncture. Training focused on three styles of acupuncture: Acupuncture Physical Medicine, which includes trigger-point dry needling, Japanese acupuncture, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is also certified in the NADA Acupuncture Detox Protocol.
Her post-graduate courses include attending classes with Mikeo Sankey, creator of Esoteric Acupuncture, and a year-long workshop in Advanced Acupuncture with Jeffrey Yuen. She continues to gain expertise, and her work carefully synthesizes various styles and techniques into a harmonious and individualized treatment.
Laurie believes in treating people with empathy and respect. She provides a safe, comfortable judgement-free environment. Sessions are un-hurried and relaxed, one person at a time.
She derives great joy from her work.
